Where would the world be without windows?
My computer is an absolute nightmare. Everytime I think that I have it working I get another blue screen or an error message or some kind of warning telling me that I have a virus!! Ahhhh
Here is a question for you. Have we made computers more complicated than they actually need to be? Just take a moment to think about it, why do viruses exist? Because there are software platforms out there that allows them to function and go ‘viral’. It’s amazing to think that a billion pound plus anti-virus IT Services industry exists simply because of security flaws in a computer operating system. When was the last time you heard about a virus causing worldwide disruption across a mac network? If you were looking at it from a positive perspective then at least you could say that Bill Gates is responsible for creating thousands of jobs in the internet security sector. IN fact without him, there wouldn’t be an internet security sector! The irony…….
People knock Bill Gates (mainly because he is rich and successful, and slightly lucky) but where would the world be without windows? What operating system would we be using now? Would it be Linux based or would some other file system have been invented?
It is hard to think of a world without windows, just about everywhere you look there is something related to windows, from the xbox in your living room to a cash machine on the high street. Even mobile phones now use windows operating systems. I challenge anyone to think of a single item that pays a part in so many aspects of our lives. You can find applications and hardware that uses windows platforms all over the place, from hospitals to police stations.
Would the IT support sector as we know it exist? I worked in this sector for a long time and indeed this is also a multibillion pound sector that thousands of people rely on for a living. There are a lot of clever people in the IT Services industry and I wonder what they would be doing if computers and operating system s didn’t exist?
There are a lot of people that hate Microsoft windows, but I think this is harsh. I think that the latest operating system is easily their best yet and if windows 8 lives up to the hype then it could be a real game changer.
Apples presence has been increased greatly over the past five years, but they will never be a major game player in business, nor do they appear to want to be. With the iPad and, iphone and ipod ranges doing so well on the high street why would they want to try and get into this sector/ they are dominating the social market and then some, and they are certainly the more fashionable brand. I am surprised that Apple has never ventured into the console market to be honest but game app gaming turning into a multimillion pound industry, I wonder how long it will be before this move is considered?
